NINE ANTICO is a French illustrator and cartoonist born in the early 1980s. She started her career with a fanzine, Rock This Way, in which she combined her two passions: rock and illustration. Her first book, Le goût du paradis (ego comme X), was nominated for the First Album Prize at the Angoulême Festival 2009. Coney Island Baby (L’Association) was published in 2010 and followed a year later by Girls, Don’t Cry (Glénat). The Angoulême Festival chose both of these books for the official 2011 festival selection. In 2012, Tonight (Glénat) came out and Nine adapted the story for a short film. She followed this with I love Alice (Les Requins Marteaux), an erotic comic about girls playing rugby very badly. Her latest book, inspired by the stories of rock n’roll groupie Pamela des Barres, is AUTEL CALIFORNIA, Face A, Treat me nice (L’Association). She’s now working on the second volume, Face B, Blue Moon.
Coney Island Baby will be Nine’s first book to be published in English. Nine lives in Paris, France.
