Nigel is a cartoonist, model maker, toymaker and writer – all round North Eastern creative powerhouse. So how come he ain’t famous yet? Despite a passing physical resemblance to his Spleenal character he’d like to point out that in his real life he is nothing like him (right, we believe you). Nigel reckons his ideas and inspiration come from the best British cartoon traditions – in a world parallel to Spleenal’s Nigel also does regular work for The Dandy, he’s just taken the glorious traditions of the likes of Baxendale and Reid and moved them to a more unrestrained level. Spleenal lets us laugh at all the thoughts we may have but never get to make public.
